Our Initiatives
Clean Water for All
The entire village of Buwunga historically relied on a single water source—the nearby lake—despite its water being contaminated by viruses, bacteria and parasites. In partnership with Nile Engineering, this initiative aims to drastically reduce the rates of disease and the daily toil of women and children forced to carry water long distances. Through solar-powered pumps, the village is able to extract and purify the lake water, and receive it at distribution points at both the school and a centralized village location.
Empowering Community Health
Health outcomes around Lake Victoria are some of the poorest in Africa—marked by high rates of HIV, malaria, tuberculosis, diarrheal diseases and maternal/child mortality. In partnership with Island Mission, this initiative conducts community medical and dental clinics, and provides access to basic medical care.
Nuturing Youth through Holistic Programs
Beyond basic education, young individuals will have access to a diverse variety of critical programs—including literacy classes, health and vocational education, counseling services and athletic curriculums. These vibrant programs promise to foster wholesome development and future employment opportunities, promoting a culture of healthy, joyful living.
